Handy Man
Single channel video, 10:30
Video Installation, 3:00
1999
Both a single-channel video and a triple-screen installation, this work examines voyeurism and surveillance. With his video camera, Henricks documented two workers in his interior courtyard. The camerawork has a secretive and furtive feel, treating the male body as an erotic object and implicating the viewer in processes of exhibitionism and image fetishization. Handy Man is part a series of works that explores one of the principle metaphors of video: the window.
